The go-to brass instrument that is usually the leader of the band! An easy instrument to transport, trumpet lessons are a great way to get dip your toes into a world of music. Join a big band or orchestra and toot away on the trumpet, or the trombone! Lessons are held weekly during school terms, with other ensemble opportunities throughout the year to partake.

The trombone is one of the most unique instruments in the brass section. There are no confusing buttons, keys, or finger combinations to deal with. A slider allows you to adjust the pitch, producing loud, unmistakable sounds.

The Penrith Youth Orchestra is always on the lookout for new brass players.

Merrilyn Vardouniotis

Merrilyn has been teaching music to students of brass instruments for over 25 years. She works individually with students tailoring lessons to their specific needs, whether it be for performances within the community, for school, AMEB exams or personal enjoyment.
As a trombone player, Merrilyn is an active member of the Penrith Symphony Orchestra and brass tutor for the Penrith Youth Orchestra. She has tutored music students at Western Sydney University and at many schools in both Sydney and Brisbane.
