31 May - 21 Jun

Penrith Youth Orchestra Online

PENRITH YOUTH ORCHESTRA (PYO) has evolved into a high-quality symphony orchestra for talented school-age musicians since it was established in 2015. A partnership between the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO), Penrith Conservatorium at The Joan and Penrith Symphony Orchestra (PSO), PYO rehearses and performs four times per year under the guidance of Artistic Director, Dr Paul Terracini.

PYO Online is a scaled-down version of our regular workshop program.

  • Students will have a 40-minute tutorial with a PSO or ACO musician each Sunday
  • Each session will be recorded and students can access them at their convenience
  • Tutors will provide technical work and exercises
  • Focus on the piece – Strauss II: The Blue Danube

Recording Project

PYO will provide a recording (.mp3 file) of the piece for students to play along to have the feel of playing with a full orchestra. Students will need to record themselves playing a section of the piece (TBA) using the sample recording as guidance.

Join in on the final Sunday for a 1-hour orchestral masterclass with Artistic Director, Dr Paul Terracini.
