Group Instrumental Tuition:
Within WSU’s Music Performance unit of its music degrees, Penrith Conservatorium delivers group music lessons to WSU’s tertiary students. Students music enrol in a Music Degree, such as Bachelor of Music, at Western Sydney University to partake in these classes.
Penrith Music Network Forum:
With the support of Penrith City Council, the Great Walk Foundation, Penrith Conservatorium and WSU, the Penrith Music Network Forum was held on 24th September 2019. Attendees were given free advice to what a career in music looks like, demystifying the music industry, identify career paths and options, and will offer free advice while discovering the musical diversity of our own backyard. The panel discussed what a career in music looks like in the year 2019 and beyond. Tips on gigging, recording, career paths, options for training, industry support and how to access it were given.
Music Pathway Program
Year 11 and 12 music students were invited to perform or have their music compositions performed and recorded in a professional concert environment at Western Sydney University’s (WSU) Music Precinct. A free event, proudly presented by Western Sydney University, Penrith City Council, Penrith Conservatorium, The Joan with the generous support of the Great Walk Foundation.
Each performance was recorded live by WSU’s professional sound engineers with an audio/visual copy presented to each student for their HSC, portfolio for further study auditions, and to further their music career goals.

Australian Chamber Orchestra
Penrith Conservatorium is proud to partner with the Australian Chamber Orchestra to administer Penrith Youth Orchestra. Musicians from the ACO are invited to be tutors for the sectionals of PYO’s participants and perform at PYO’s concerts and activities.
In February 2018, history was made for young musicians in Western Sydney when 44 students came together in the inaugural workshops of Penrith Youth Orchestra (PYO).
The youth orchestra builds on the highly successful Penrith Strings program which ran from 2015 to 2017 through a partnership between Penrith Symphony Orchestra (PSO), The Joan, and the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO). The PYO is the only youth orchestra that gives young musicians the opportunity to play on stage alongside professional musicians in their midst, as well as the opportunity to receive guidance from the musicians of the ACO.
